what make's a press a press and a copier a copier. there are a lot of digitial printer manufatorers out there using the term press. does a press have to have a impression cylinder to be called a press. does it have to be a offset press to be called a press. i just dont agree with CANNON, KM, XEROX, etc. using the word press and i own 2 of the above along with 2 presstek di's and a ryobi 2 color i just think it should be ink on paper not toner to say it is a press. just my opinion from a old school "press operator" what is everyones thoughts on this topic
From a business perspective or from selling point of view: Press sounds more proffesional than copier. I don't think most of the customer cares whether it is ink or toner on the paper. Bottom line it should look good and the color should be pleasing.
Nowdays with HP Indigos, Xerox Igens, Canon High End Machines - the output of those look much better than what comes out of a press which is 5-10 year older.
We have the Xerox DC 5000 and for prints with not very heavy coverge it prints as good as the DI.
